At the age of seven I discovered Roald Dahl, and while other authors tapped my brain of its imaginative possibility as if it were a maple tree, Roald Dahl was able to squeeze it through an industrial juicer. I revelled in his made-up language and made desperate attempts to channel Matilda’s mindpower, and now that I think of it, Dahl’s words (“bogtrotter”, “swishfigglers”) were only made more vivid by illustrator Quentin Blake.
Quentin’s website is at once a journey back to second grade and an exploration into his portfolios of adult art (think Shel Silverstein for Playboy) which he aptly names in Dahl jargon (“fossicking”). It even features sketched bookplates for your downloading pleasure (frameable with the right printer). Whatever your age, I guarantee you won’t find it disgusterous.
